Timer warner install sucks

The old version was simple, straight forward, and easy to use. This version makes you jump through hoops. Not only do you now have to perform 3 or 4 steps where you used to do 1 or 2, but parts of it are completely useless. I echo all the negative comments here. Navigator is terrible. We actually got out our old VCR just to be able to do this. I live in Manhattan and have had all the problems described above and more.

When I delete an upcoming episode of a show, it reappears on my schedule in a few hours. Inevitably, it ends up taping the deleted show and that takes up space and deletes stuff I wanted to see. I almost missed the premiere of Caprica tonight because of this.

So now I have to babysit it, which defeats the purpose. I wonder if this software switch voids my agreement to stay with TWC for two years. Anything has to be better. Any ideas on IO or Verizon? You could not be more right.

I have experienced all of the problems you have and more. It seems that every few months the company makes a system change which makes things worse and more difficult, rather than better and easier.

This is the final straw for me. Today my menu shows every single channel that Time Warner offers, rather than only my favorites. Customer support now tells me that this change will be permanent, and that I will from now on either have to scroll through every single channel on the network, or press the favorite button to get to my next favorite channel. This means that in order to randomly learn what I might most want to see on TV at any given time, I must now press the favorite button 79 separate times.

In the past I was able to scroll the menu while simultaneously watching a program, so the new mandatory feature has now even lost that ability as well. That a company as big as this cannot figure out how to make improvements to make customers happier, yet periodically and consistently chooses to make things harder and harder for them instead, is completely absurd.

And it goes on and on. Bye bye Time Warner. I refuse to deal with idiots any morons. So I have to change the audio from digital to dolby, and then the volume control from fixed to variable so I can control the volume via the cable box.

Larry is right! I had a price increase this year…for WHAT? I have my own DVR, and until today I could record programs on separate channels. Hel LO! Talk about a totally bone-headed move to make! Just had the new Navigator turned on in Rochester, NY and it sux. Simple stuff like losing the ability to have the clock displayed when the box is off and the channel displayed when on.

This is bad, really baaaaaaaaaaaaaad. Time for satellite. That feature works here in Charlotte. The customer service person, who was reading from a script, is sending a tech since they have never seen this problem.

Due to my work schedule, it will be 3 days from now that the tech can come. I am furious. Well this is just craptastic. My first day with POS as been great.

So everyone here is just complaining. Can anyone tell me what the best combination of service and DVR is? If so, which one? And I am sick to death of all the crap maps, scrolling info and logos on the local channels every time there is a sprinkle outside. I could barely watch Lost a couple of weeks ago because someone was getting pea sized hail eighty miles away. Do you see this crap on the local channels on satellite too? I think I am just going to get rid of it. I think the answer will be TV over the internet.

Then we can control the software we use to record it or we will be able to stream a show anytime. That will rock. Lets hope it happens soon. Just got my wonderful upgrade.

Gone are all the programs I had set up to record when they returned to air new shows. I had my schedule set up to tape shows such as Burn Notice and others when they returned to the network. That is all gone now. Hate this new guide! I know where they are…I dont need an alpha numeric serach listing. I called to complain that the audio and video inputs on the front of my DVR box no longer work. Supposedly this is because of the upgrade and I use that term loosely.

These were convenient for video games and viewing video camera footage because they are on the front of the system. TW touted the fact that I can now set recording with my cell phone…who cares? On my unit, there is a button for day forward and another one for previous day. It took me a long time to figure it out, though, and I understand how frustrating it was in the mean time I believe both the SA and SA boxes have these day navigation buttons.

I had the cable guy here for another problem and he said it was the box. The last Nav hid all unsubscribed channels and passed right over them when surfing. Regretfully I had to tell him that we were never able to get cable, thus canceled the order due to the riduculous nature of how Time Warner Cable is run. He laughed and agreed with me, then paused for a moment.

After a brief pause I exclaimed, "Sure! I like making terrible companies pay for something that they should have fixed. This one is for all you little people out there that can't get any props from the this awful company. I've been hunting for a solution to the MegaSpeed Internet at my house and have found nothing on a consumer level.

I did talk to SBC and they are offering a package that can go 3. This is something that will happen if the company SBC believes they have a huge market oppurtunity to balance out the cost of providing infrastructure. Soooooooo, back to the drawing board. With Cable, as is true with DSL, your max speed according to your account is - whatever your contract says it is. These are just the facts of life. Cable would be the same thing. The difference is staggering when compared to DSL. But where the Hell is all that extra speed I am paying for?

Time Warner would tell you it's due to the bandwidth the entire neighborhood is getting. So your speed could even be worse than DSL at times. But this is nothing that Time has any control over. Why you may ask? Because Time Warner Doesn't know how to conduct anything. Also, sometimes the grids are wrong. Or maybe you are recording two shows, but want to record the end of a sporting event after one of the shows ends.

You could do all that with Passport. Not with Navigator. We need the ability to set manual stop and start times. Which means my AMP is not getting digital audio anymore. Well now i cant get my dvd player to work!!! I had it set up so the dvd player went to the cable, then to the surround sound, i had to push the video sourcs button to make that work, now the fucking thing doesnt work.

Passport always took me back to the LIST. I liked that. Great summary of the Navigator crap. You wrote this almost 1. The only function that has changed is FAV — they removed the Sort function!!!

FAV is now useless — who wants to single-change channels through all of their favorites? There is no more grouping of favorite channels anywhere in the listing. Does TW even have a programming team working on Navigator updates? And here I am, reporting in May 2, Morrowland -I have the exact problem concerning the audio — very frustrating — have you found a solution?

Their answer now with Navigator — rent and pay for a second DVR. I call them monthly to complain, and to see if any improvements are coming. No positive response from them…. I think Navigator has somewhat improved in the last five years.

My honest assessment of Navigator is three-fold. TWC wanted to do the following:. To develop an in-house program guide on their own, so that they would not have to pay outside vendors for updates.

There are some updates that have recently been added. Updates for these boxes are being phased out, because the boxes are no longer being made. The newer version of Navigator is called ODN, and will continue to be updated as the technology evolves.

The Positives Are as Follows: 1. Guide information is complete and no longer truncated. Faster Navigation and bug fixes with each upgrade. Features Coming Soon: 1. Transparency Channel Banner Control 4. Interactive Menus will soon be embedded into the channel banner 6.

Auto HD will have a sub-setting allowing the box to auto record the HD version of a show, if the user tunes to the SD version of the channel. Things still lacking: 1. The next update really needs to have this! No Permanent Guide Filtering. But are improving. The fastest ODN boxes, are the Samsung models. However, there are reported issues with them using HDMI cables. If you want the best quality from the Samsungs, most customers have noticed improvements by switching to Component Cable.

Although this may be fixed with the next software update. They require a truck role to put a filter on the line. If you need a bigger hard drive, the MDN boxes have a history of working well with drive expanders. Western Digital is an often recommended choice. The legacy Pioneer boxes are so out of date that any customers should swap them out. They are years past their usefulness, and that is a kind estimate.

Hi All! Yes, it will include keyword search, a search filter, the ability to search by Actors, Popular Items, Sports Teams, and more.
